The next-generation Tacoma midsize pickup undergoes a complete makeover when it moves onto Toyota’s F1 global body-on-frame platform for 2024. Design patent filings signal the Tacoma will adopt the front styling of the newest Tundra full-size pickup — a heavily creased hood, rectangular fog lights, multiple slats below the headlights. Toyota previewed similar design cues on an electric pickup shown in Tokyo in late 2021.

The Tacoma, the top-selling U.S. midsize pickup, is expected to adopt Toyota’s latest in-house infotainment system, with improved safety and driver-assistance systems. Two powertrains are likely planned at launch: a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a hybrid-assisted turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder.
