EV startup Canoo filed a 58-page lawsuit versus some of its former employees and their new company, Harbinger, alleging they stole intellectual property. Canoo Electric vehicle maker Canoo is suing some of its former employees who launched a rival company. Canoo claims the employees used Canoo trade secrets and IP for their new startup, Harbinger.
In July, Canoo won a $67,500 U.S. Army award to create a “new light to heavy duty Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or series-hybrid electric wheeled vehicle, for Government analysis and demonstration.” The Texas-based startup just delivered the resulting Light Tactical Vehicle prototype to the U.S. Army. Walmart has struck a deal with Canoo to buy 4,500 electric vehicles as part of the U.S. retailer’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, the companies said on Tuesday. The deal, whose financial terms were not disclosed, also gives Walmart an option to purchase up to 10,000 units as it electrifies its delivery fleet.
