Toyota is introducing its fifth-generation hybrid system on the freshened 2023 Corolla compact hybrid, adding trim levels and optional electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive as well as safety upgrades and the brand’s new voice-based infotainment system. Corolla, the No. 2 U.S. seller among cars this year and the ninth most popular light vehicle, is a longtime key entry point to the Toyota brand. Toyota has cut the price of the base model Corolla hybrid LE by $1,250 to $23,895, including delivery, though the hybrid still remains a $1,250 option over the base model gas-powered Corolla sedan. The premium XLE grade is now only available with the hybrid powertrain, however. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the sedan, hatchback and hybrids, Toyota says, as is the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, with a new new 8-inch touchscreen. Other changes across the 2023 Corolla lineup include front and rear styling updates.
